Making threads with taps and dies.\n6. How to read a drawing\, mark\, measure\, cut\, fold and fix a sheet metal project.\n7. Correct and safe operation of machine shop tools; Bench/pillar drills\, finisher grinder\, shears\, guillotine\, notcher\, box and pan folder\, bandsaw\, bar bender\, slip rolls…\n8. Close the day with a discussion around potential projects for day 2. \nDay 2\nBuilding on the previous day’s discussion\, begin making your project with tutor on hand to aid in any areas of fabrication. During the morning there will be a demonstration of various forms of finishing stainless steel including sand blasting\, flame polishing and buffing. If you don’t already have a project in mind – don’t worry! Once we get going plenty of ideas will arise & the small group size allows for 1:1 time with the tutor during the 3 days of the course. Advanced students will continue personal projects and research new techniques and processes.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				What Will I Do\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				1st day\nMorning introduction to safety practice in the workshop and the ABC of Welding. Get hands on and practice some welding. In the afternoon we will split in groups and produce a communal sculpture\, experimenting with different welding scenarios.\n2nd day\nWe will discuss individual students projects\, with those who already have one\, and we will discuss possibilities with those that are not sure yet. We will explore the space\, the volume and different types of lines from a new perspective\, considering the light\, shadows and interstices between the lines as part of the work as well. The course will cover the techniques of bending\, cutting\, grinding\, rolling & shaping steel rods. It will cover MIG welding for beginners and advanced.\nStudents will work on individual sculpture/s or projects. If you don’t have a project yet\, no worries\, we will discuss and give shape to your ideas.
