Glazing Techniques (21 Nov 2018)

This half day course will cover how to effectively and safely glaze your finished work, using basic glazing techniques such as dipping, pouring or brushing. It will explain the difference between stoneware and earthenware glazes and firing temperatures.  Following the workshop, glazed work will then be fired, ready for collection.

The course is aimed at students who have taken part in the weekend ceramics course and whose work form that course has been fired to bisque.

No previous experience necessary.

The course cost includes all glazes and one kiln firing.

For health and safety reasons you should wear closed footwear (no sandals or flip flops).
Aprons will be provided but it can get messy.
Please bring a notebook.

Work can be damaged during the firing process.

Students will be notified when their work has been fired and is ready to collect after the course has finished. This may take up to a month depending on workload. The pick up days and times will be emailed to you.

Alex obtained her Masters degree in Ceramics from the Royal College of Art. She works as a technician at the RCA and at a school. Her own practice uses fired and unfired clay to create sculptures and installations. View her work here.
