Anyone who has enough experience to work independently in the workshop. We are unable to provide one-to-one technical assistance during Open Access sessions although a Studio Manager is on duty during the sessions to assist with inductions and basic set up of machines etc. You need to be a member of LSW to use the open access.
Unfortunately at present we cannot allow under-18s to use the facilities.
Personal Protective Equipment is provided eg. welding helmets, gloves, ear protectors, googles but we strongly recommend that steel toe-cap boots are worn (strictly no flip-flops or open-toed shoes). We also recommend that either boiler suits, overalls or general work clothes are worn.
We kindly ask all open-access users to be competent in the processes that they would like to do. We have a Studio Manager available to help guide you in safe and proper use of the equipment, but the main artistic process should be something you are familiar with.

One-to-one training is also available by prior arrangement with the Studio Manager, by contacting us. Rates start at £25 per hour plus the fee of the open access session.

YES, we offer an annual membership for £25.
YES, an equipment induction, health & safety biefing and signed acceptance of the Workshop User Regulations are required before starting working independently in the studio.
Your first session will start with an induction, which includes an introduction to the equipment at LSW and Health & Safety. The induction takes about an hour and you will then be free to access the workshop for the rest of the session.
Once you are a member, the cost of sessions are £25.99 per three hours. Timings are 9.30am – 1.00pm & 2.00pm – 5.30pm
Each session is paid for in advance through Eventbrite.
